We all play better with more time, but the point is that playing moves slowly/carefully will build your actual understanding and intuition. I still suck too lol but I know that all of my improvement is from playing slowly and really forcing myself to think.
Blitz is fun, I play it too. Don't give it up if you like it. But that's really all it is--fun, it's not doing anything to help us get better.

I've been taking chess seriously for about a year now, and have noticed some improvement...on a good day, I can surpass even my expectations, maybe on occasion play pretty evenly with players of a much higher rating.
That aside, I seem to play about as good as I feel. I understand that with lots on my mind, my game will most likely suffer, and often does; like most, I play better with a clear head. I can't be the only one with this issue, but I will admit, after being on several losing streaks I'm becoming a bit discouraged.
I review my losses and wonder how I could have been so foolish...long story short, I was just curious if other players have encountered similar difficulties at one point or another.
Any feedback would be appreciated, thank you.
