As far as I know you can make multiple account with different user names
I believe that is called cheating. The accounts would all get banned if you get caught with alt accounts without actually getting permission from chess.com to make those alt accounts.

James, I'm pretty sure you can make another account as long as you close this one. If you're banned twice, you can't come back, but you can make and close, repeat, as long as you don't have more than two accounts (and the alt approved).
However I would recommend double-checking first with a mod, such as @Wind.
