USCF Online Regular Rating Play Opportunities?

For those of you who are USCF members, they recently implemented a USCF online regular rating system, so people could have something reflective online due to the COVID pandemic. It's 30 minutes or more per side I believe.

The only online chess club that I know offers it (cause I got an email from USCF) is DMV Chess. They have scholastic and open tournaments. I wonder if there are other clubs who offer that? Let me know!

You can use the Past Events Crosstables link to look up affiliates that have ran Online-Regular events.

I'm sure a number of those are only open to specific clubs (i.e. local clubs playing online) but that would be a way to see some that are doing it.

Both ICC and Chess.com offer this.  It requires an organizer to ensure all memberships are current and two TD's.  One TD handles the online tournament administration.  The other (probably the organizer) submits a rating report to US Chess.  I worked with ICC and did this for RRSO XVISS (RRSO 18-1/2).  It went pretty well, except the Okies won.

You don't need two TDs.

It would be cool if FIDE did this too...

One TD.  Two TD's.  Ten TD's.  It doesn't matter.  Each organization has TD functions and responsibilities.  Both groups must be satisfied in order for the tournament to be dual rated.  For RRSO XVIISS, I was not an ICC TD.  So ICC provided their own TD and I took care of the US Chess side.

Perhaps in another lifetime?  FIDE is greatly concerned about cheating.

Cool when's the next tournament?

Club for USCF rated online slow chess tournaments. One game a week tournaments. When applying to join, please either state your name or link your USCF profile on the application. Please note that these are not official USCF events and USCF has no affilation to this club

I'm a little confused happy.png

I meant that they weren't official meaning USCF is not directing organizing it, just an affiliate of them.

You shouldn't be just accepting people if they link to their profile. Anyone can fake that. They need to be verified first and compared to their verified information.

Unless you have some other way to verify identify, that is secure and accurate.

most of the players in the group are on that list I believe, so that will help. I don't think other online rated tournaments do that either though, I wish there was a better way to confirm identity.

If events aren't validating members well, they are probably risking their affiliates.
