Vacation time static

My current opponent is on vacation and his time simply says '1 month'.  This has not decreased despite several days passing.  Is it the case that when you have greater than one month (e.g. 1 month and 10 days) it will continue to say '1 month' until it comes under 28 days, thereafter showing the actual number of days?  If this is so, why is that the case - why not give an accurate display immediately - such as '38 days'?

I don't know how to answer your question, but I'm in total agreement with you. You look on a Monday say, and he has 28 hrs. Then you look again on Tuesday and he has 35 hrs, AND HE HASN'T MOVED!

Chess.com allows vacation days to accrue while someone is on vacation, which I think should not happen.
