Someone's done something similar in a tourney I'm in.
Frankly, I don't understand why someone would bother joining a tourney if they knew they were going on holiday for 3 weeks a couple of days afterwards.

We are on the 40th move. Seems a stalemate to me.
ROOK/Rook-BISHOP/Stallion-4PEONS/3Peons...where do we go from here?
Nope, not a stalemate at all (I am assuming you mean draw).
And they have every right to use their vacation in any way they see fit.
@Rsava is right in that a member can use vacation time as they wish however if the person on vacation comes online play other games than the one you are concerned with then that would be vacation abuse and would need to be reported to support for possible further action
That has never been the case in the past and when it has been brought up we have been told that they are allowed to do it.
What happens is all games come off vacation then the user can put all games back on vacation.
That has been how it has worked since I joined 6+ years ago.

In this example it is not vacation abuse. The player must be ON vacation and playing games. I have had opponents go no vacation when they are losing come off play one move and then go on vacation again. In that case you can do nothing.
If you are talking about live games, that has also always been allowed.
Always.
I have had several games in the past where a player was "on vacation" for daily games but playing live games. I actually played one them in a live game to prove it and was told that was their prerogative.
If you are talking about Daily games then you do not understand how vacation time works. If you come on and play a move in one daily game while on "vacation", all of your games come off vacation.
You then just just go back on vacation.
Either way, it has always been allowed in the past. Now you are saying one of those ways is not allowed?
The example i have given is from my understanding of what support has told me. However to make absolutely sure i will get a full definition for you
ok here is the official definition

Yeah, ok, but that is not what this post is about. It is not prolonging a lost or drawn game.
Your post #5 is also not about lost games.
How much time do you get?
All new Chess.com accounts start out with 7 days of vacation time.
All members then accrue an additional 2 vacation days per month: one on the 1st, & one on the 15th.
Vacation time is capped at a certain maximum so that you can't keep accumulating vacation time forever. Your maximum allowable vacation time depends on your membership level:
remember, once they finish the game, you can add them to your blocked list, and you wont play them again, things like this can/do happen, but please be patient.
THANKS to ALL !!...I am learning from your answers. It was difficult for me to describe the
situation thoroughly. I am traveling abroad and playing a" single three days move's game" from
a laptop. My opponent (may) have now made a wrong move .Let me check the King and the
Rook at once. Long back I offered a DRAW. I am now waiting for what should be his final move .
I may or may not continue with this instructing chat . Thank you again. (Ricardo)
You get far too much vacation time. You should get 1 week to be used in case of emergency. It's a joke to have months of vacation.
You have no clue why someone might need more than 1 week of vacation. I travel for work and sometimes I am in countries where the internet is not very good, or I am busy with work on site and cannot get to it.
I had a job a few years back where I was on site for 28 days straight and was working 18-20 hours a day. Last thing I wanted to do was think about chess games on chess.com.
Other situations come up also, I can think of a few in my personal life that would move chess to somewhere around the 1 millionth thing I would be thinking about.
If you are actually 16 then you will understand when you are an adult and in the real world.
Now, some do abuse it. What I am saying is that there are legitimate reasons when you are an adult with real world responsibilities to need more than 1 or two weeks. I gave you an example. I can give you more but since you can't seem to wrap your head around the simple one I gave you, no reason to tax you with more complicated ones.
Just because you refuse to try and understand what happens in the grown up world of real life does not mean things don't happen.
Ive been playing a game since christmas to someone who is still on vacation. If you can't commit to it then don't start daily and play blitz instead. 2 weeks vacation maximum, any more is not fair on your opponent.
There could be other reasons,
1.) Someone could have lost there job and cant afford to keep paying for the internet.
2.) A death in the family, and chess isn't on there mind just right now.
3.) A natural disaster knocking out internet, remember this site is international.
These are just some of the things have can happen to stop a player getting on site, and it can be seen as not fair to five them only 2 weeks to get back to the game as these things are out of there controle.
At some point you too may need to take a long vacation. ![]()
With games that can last months, if not closer to a year, without vacation time, having time available is essential.
But as you say, it is only a game, so just wait until they move or time out when their vacation is exhausted.
2Q1C, you have 17 games going. 1 game on vacation? Big deal. If it was your only one then maybe I can understand.
I currently have 1 daily game (a tournament on endgames) going and I just gained a big advantage. The guy went on vacation. Now, it probably irks the other 836 games he is playing more than me but hey, if he wants to drag it out, so be it.
I get that but then maybe a forfeit is more appropriate. It's only a game after all, life is more important but starting a game in December and having it still go on in March with very little moves is tedious.
I understand your frustration, but alas, this is something that can happen, we do not know the reason for the person not playing, and it is something we may all have happen to us, in time the game will be abandoned and you'll win the game due to a time out, you can start other games, and also there is live chess you can play.
