I agree. Although 2 days wouldn't be that much of a difference from a 'no vacation' tournament, something like a week maximum would be nice. Then some of us can go on business trips or away for the weekend, while not allowing those who abuse vacation time to stall a tournament indefinitely.
VACATION TIME

Look on the upper right hand corner of the screen. Click on the "Home" tab, then "Online chess," then "Vacation settings." There you can activate or deactivate vacation mode.
In any case, what's the big deal with your opponent taking a little time off. It's the summer (in the northern hemisphere anyway), people go on vacation!
I've accumulated 30 days vacation.I don't have a computer at home,nor a smartphone.I don't play faster than 3 d/move so I can always get to a computer sooner or later.
So what is vacation for ?

It's for vacation, brah! Amsterdam, Bangkok, Mogadishu, Colorado, whatever floats your boat!
I'm sure a lot of people are can get discouraged by the vacation time (myself I try to avoid tournaments with vacation time) as I hate to see people "stall" the rest of the tournament (especially in completely lost positions). To the staff of chess.com I present this idea. Still allow vacation but allow tournament directors the ability to control how many days you can take off for tournaments. IE: I am hosting a tournament with vacation time and let the TD decide how many days each person is allowed (for example I would allow 2 days of vacation) So while playing in a tournament a person is only allowed 2 days of vacation time and after his 2 days pass he/she automatically loses their games. It can be really discouraging to not only the person playing but to the rest of the people in the tournament to have to wait for 1 person to come back from vacation (especially if that person is abusing the vacation time in a "completely lost position"). I think allowing the TD to limit the number of vacation days (per person) would help out everybody (since vacation time should only be used in "when needed" not just to piss off somebody or stall an entire tournament for no apparent reason.
