Try and finish your games before you go on vacation [or as many as you can]

A similar question was asked in this forum thread.

One answer given was;

Vacation time cannot be 'extended'... there are people waiting to finish games.  If you cannot move in time and know that you need vacation time, play games with longer time controls.  That's the long and the short of it.  It is a pity that you will lose on time but your opponent does not need to wait for you, that's the rules.

You can of course talk to your oponents about your problem, and maybe save a few games that way. Maybe. Laughing

but how would it save games?

Avatar of AMcHarg

It would save games because opponents can opt to not automatically win on time, so if they do so then they can hold your clock at zero for you until you get back! Smile

in other words if u r winning... & opponent is unsporting... u loss.

Is it correct understood that you never get new vacation time, or is it renewed on a regular basis? Its not gonna be a problem for me for the next long time, but what happens to those people who run out of vacation after 1-2 years?

P.S. Sorry for the hijack of the tread evie 33

You can set up your games to not automatically win on time, but that is true only for non-tournament games.  I have set up my options so that I do not autoatically win on time; but in my tournament games, people still automatically lose on time, even though my settings are not set up that way.

They can make their moves at the last possible second so that you can have more time to make your moves.

your talking about vacation time. Finished ur games or resign simple as that. Call it vacation time if u get paid for it.    Bottom line if u going on vacation finished as many games as u can.. and the ones u dont finished resign.. dont hold up the rest of us.

I think vacation time policies were changed, and it is not resetting to 40 days on Jan 1. It is 1 week when you join, and accrues at a certain rate. You also get a bonus if you are a paying member.

From the help section:

STARTING VACATION

All new Chess.com accounts start out with 7 days of vacation time.

ACCRUAL

All members then accrue an additional 2 vacation days per month added on (1 on the 1st, 1 on the 15th).

BUMP

Premium Members are given a Vacation BUMP when they subscribe (and when they renew). The following time is added for each subscription period:

Free: none

Silver: 1 day per month

Gold: 14 days per year

Platinum: 28 days per year

Diamond: 28 days per year

CAP

Vacation time is capped so that you can't keep accumulating vacation time forever. It is capped as follows:

Free Members: 30 days

Silver/Gold Members: 60 days

Platinum/Diamond: 90 days

In a nutshell, you earn your vacation by actively spending time on Chess.com. You can also become premium to enable more vacation or raise your vacation cap.

Hope that helps
