Valid Adoption?

2Ke21-0

Hello everyone,

A few minutes back, I beat my friend, @Roger436 10–0 in 3|0 3 Check. Here are the games. I was proud to proclaim that I had adopted a new child for myself! But the transfer of this title was not peaceful. Roger436 is refusing to concede and denies the fact that I have adopted him!

The official definition of the term "adoption" will be a crucial source in determining the truth once and for all. According to the Urban Dictionary, "An 'adoption' in chess is when one player beats another 10 in a row at the same time control, with no draws."

The premise of his argument is that 3-check is not technically chess and therefore is not a valid time control for an adoption to occur. My rebuttal is that the term "chess" extends to all of its variants for one can even argue that a time control for standard chess is not "real chess".

But of course, the two of us are inherently biased towards our cause as we are directly affected by the outcome. So we will need a tiebreaker that speaks for nothing but the truth. And there is no place better to turn to than the chess.com community!

I have created a poll for everybody to vote for the outcome they believe is fairest. An IP-duplication check is set in place so each individual can only vote once. Please enter your chess.com username as your name when you vote. Voting closes tonight at 10 PM PST on November 21st, 2020.

Was Roger eating fried bananas dipped in 23.9999 Karat Gold Chocolate with a side of drizzled caramel ants that were steamed under 3 pieces of Raw Bacon?
If so then it's not an adoption, if not so then it is. wink.png

Sounds like your step child is acting up. Time for some discipline.
