Vicious players

Is it me, or is everyone here just bloodthirsty and vicious? Every blitz and bullet game I play is against an opponent who plays down to the last second, no matter how bad the position is. I know it's rewarded by masters disguised with low ratings allowing draws in lost positions for play that displays "fighting spirit" (I've seen some do it to me... But that's like when I'm down a single pawn or something) but some of the baloney I come across is just too ridiculous.

As a side note, countless players swear at me without being edited, but the first time I break down and curse back, I get a mod warning me. What the heck is going on around here?

Regarding your side note ..

Sadly unless we had thousands of human moderators in live chess per game thats played in there, the game chat is left to be moderated automatically by a swear filter.

As you experienced, if someone who has come across our filter before knows what they can and can't say, they will use spaces in their words to bypass the swear filter warning them or removing them from live chess.

You weren't aware of this, when you posted a retort to your opponent, you got caught by the filter.

If at any time, anyone is abusive, offensive in any way or racist toward you, or anyone else you see on the site, please submit a support ticket showing the comments they made and the support team will handle this.

Blitz chess is a variation of chess where the clock is supremely important.  If you're going to play it, don't dismiss the role of the clock.  It's more about finding OK moves quickly than finding great moves.  And yes, players play down to the last second if there's even a little hope you're not fast enough to avoid losing on time.

If it's really annoying to you to lose on time in a nice or winning position, then seek games with a little increment.  Instead of 5/0 search for 5/2 or 5/5 for example.

This is... hard to decipher.  Do you mean sometimes strong players will offer a draw instead of beating you in order to keep their rating low?  I guess that's what you mean.

I've never seen this myself.  Usually if they want to keep their rating low they'll just resign as soon as your position is really bad.

Anyway, the reward for playing out a lost position in blitz chess is if you can win on time and as you're finding out it's just part of the game.

The name calling isn't of course... Kohai answered that though so I'll skip it.

Yes I've learned the lesson of the clock. I think we can all tell the difference.

Kohai, I'm not filing a complaint for every little nincompoop I come across... It would simply take too long.
