This is the vote chess help page, can soneone help me clear up some of these points?

A)

Play Team vs. Team or Against a Master!

You get to cast your vote on what is the very best move as you play chess against a strong individual or another team of chess players!

How do we set up a game against a master?

B)

Additionally, in some games the other votes will be shown BEFORE you make a move, and in other games you will not see the other votes until AFTER you have moved.

How do we set up so that votes are visible before I vote?

C)

If there is a tie vote for one or more moves then the move that was first suggested is chosen as the winning move.

Does't it make more sense that later moves are chosen? After time and more analysis it often becomes clear that the early vote was an error, and it becomes very hard to fix it. This is especially trye in games where only a few players are active.

Your comments will be appreciated.

A) Only staff members can organize a titled player versus Chess.com match.

B) When you create a vote chess game for your group you should see an option for "Open Poll" which will enable everyone to see the current voting.

C) Thanks for the suggestion, I will be sure to pass your feedback on for further consideration.

Where exactly is this Open Poll option hidden?  I don't think I've ever seen it.

I also agree with Rooperi that later votes are much more likely to be for good moves than early votes.  The early voters tend to be drive-bys who vote for moves that hang a piece, or leave the team open to mate in 1.  Strong players are much more likely to hold off on voting waiting for the discussion to reach a conclusion.  We've seen some strong but small teams sabotaged by split votes where an early voter went with a game losing blunder before other more sober minds had had a chance to post a comment.

That is why you need a good leader, good team/group and good communication is required.

kco, in one game I can think of, the team that went down had one of the best vote chess players on the site leading them, but there were only two voters on a key turn, and so they went down.  I've been a prisoner of a non-posting early voter on a two person team before.  Allowing the last move voted to carry the day would help solve this problem.

Thanks for your comments.

I can't find the open poll option, though?

kco

Yes I agreed with you Estragon, with my earlier advice will not work for a very large group. Maybe having three vote game (one for <1500, one for 1500-1800 and the other one 1800> ) ?

Can you limit the ratings for vote chess?

kco

no, at the moment I don't think we can.
