This situation reminds me of the events in the famous Serbian movie "Balkan Spy". In short: a man named Ilija thought that his tenant was a spy working for foreign countries, brought his brother Djura who beat him very badly. In the end, they tie him up and ask him to confess for which secret service he works, and Ilija tells him: " Just confess and Djura will forgive you for beating you".
