Wanted; High rated players to compete with.

Hi,

First off this site is awesome. I've been having a lot of fun exploring the site and seeing all it offers and playing some different types of chess games. It's probably cliche but it really seems to be an almost one stop site for anyone's chess. 

Second, and to my main point, I'm looking for some high rated players who might want to play some games with me that I can practice with and learn from. Not necessarily a mentor, I don't want to take away that much time of anyone's, but maybe a few high rated players who like to demonstrate their knowledge of the game or even show off some of their tricks they have learned. Doesn't have to be rated and can be one of those 3/day move games or a long time control 15 min+/game "live" game, whatever works for them. Also great would be help in analysis of games too. While pretty young I'm abit old school with chess- I don't like engine analysis, and would like human analysis best.

Third, is there a place here where high rated players play and hang out? a Group maybe that I could join and lurk and watch play or discuss games to learn from?

Again, awesome site, real excited to be here and look forward to future games, analysis, interaction, learning and fun. It's a great day to play chess. :)

I'm no authority on this but playing "blitz" to me is just pattern recognition and thinking on a faster but more shallow scale than slower chess. I play ten minutes per side games or longer. I don't know what bullet is exactly, I assume faster than what blitz time controls are here, but I have no interest in playing less than ten minutes per player. Really I only have played the ten minutes because I have not yet had the availablity to commit to a longer live game. The days/move game type is fascinating and something I will probably do more of because it is so convinent not having to commit to sitting down for a whole 30 minutes or longer at a time to finish a game, I can analyze the positions and make moves as my schedule allows. Great feature on this site in my opinion!

Would enjoy playing with you, not sure how I directly challenge you to a game though- want to challenge me? 

You may not think much of me because of my rating but i simply destroy if i try as black, for some reason my white game has been off recently, but hell if your up for a match it'll be a good one.

Sure challenge me to a match because I don't know how to challenge people directly.

1-HolyKing is good at correspondance (well, at least better than me), I can confirm it.

2- If you manage to catch me when I am in live chess, we can play. Just send a challenge then. Not over 15min/player though, please (and not under 5min, but it seems it wasn't your intention).

when your in the live chess window you then go to friends (if there on your friends list) scroll over there name and you will then be presented with the option to challenge them, hope this helps.

I might get a paid membership at a later time once I decide how much I like the site and will use the paid features and so on. Live chess tournaments might be difficult for me with the time commitment. How long do they go?

You can find them in live chess, then click on tournament tab and join. I am in 3-4 tournaments today. Just have some fun. Just made a blunder and lost in 20 moves.
