Was this prooper chess etiquette?

I was playing recently in a live 30min game and was at a serious disavantage. Normally I would have resigned but I noticed my opponent had used up most of his time so I kept going and sure enough, when he had a rook and two pawns vs. nothing of my own, time ran out and a draw was declared.

Did I do anything wrong? I know that technically I did not but I am curious if I was playing within the "unspoken" rules of the game.

Thank you.

Sounds fine to me. The clock is an important part of rapid games.

Thank you.

Also, I just realized my typo in the title. I have the flu so I am using that as my excuse for not catching it...no pun intended.

You will undoubtedly get folks on both sides of this question, but, to me, the goal of chess is to checkmate my opponent in the alloted time. If my opponent can prevent me from doing that, then I don't win. So, in my mind, what you did was fine.

That said I do hate it when I'm the victim of it, and rarely try it myself.
