You won - so I suppose it worked out. Well played!! It certainly opened up white's defence and you took advantage.
Had you been playing a stronger player would it have worked out? I doubt it. See below for some analysis. I think white had quite a few opportunities to do better; even his penultiamte move was a blunder.

27.Rf1 is the first move that pops to mind in your actual game. Your counterplay came from white not doing anything constructive after your sac. I'd have gone for 25..e6, looks better.
