Is it ever wrong to randomly praise Scandinavian countries? Y'all seem to have it together. Maybe except for the cuisine, but those little meatballs are not bad with a little hot sauce.

frothy679

i did report him

I mean, I also like having time to think without worrying about being flagged. That's why I play a lot more rapid than blitz. But even in rapid you can run into time trouble, and at that point you gotta go fast. I remember a game where I was kind of zoning and I realized I had a slighltly winning endgame but only 30 seconds. I played as fast as I could and managed to get a queen and a mating net... and I got flagged with MATE IN ONE on the board (I saw it immediately, I just didn't click fast enough). Even so, I don't think my opponent was being a bad sport at all, they were just trying to win the game under the predetermined conditions, the same thing I was trying to do. The only time I've reported someone for being a bad sport was one lovely individual who spammed the chat and my messages calling me a cheater and a moron and saying I just got lucky after I completely fairly won two games against them.

As for using the chat, I use only if I feel I have a reason to. For example, I usually let people know if they go Kg8 in the fried liver that that's a forced mate. Or if I like their username/profile pic. I play rapid though, and I understand how it could be distracting in lower time formats.

it's always great to randomly praise Scandinavian countries. You can't go wrong with anything Scandinavian, not even in chess grin.png

tl;dr but u are saying you  dont think he was a bad sport for being gone a while. dawg... my opponent  was gone for like 6 minutes

mafriedman

I must be very lucky, have played over 1,500 games and not one person has been rude to me.

krazeechess

another troll.

Infinite_Blitz

I know that when I was a low rated player, people abandoned the game way too much

Infinite_Blitz

I remember 2 years ago before I made this account, I played 30 minute chess games and someone decided to stall with 25 minutes on the clock because he was losing. That was the reason why I stopped playing 30 minute chess, so I wouldn't have to wait 20 minutes because some idiot decides to stall

I played over 8000 games on this site, and now this topic made me discover that there is a chat option while playing the game. Wow.

I couldn’t say it’s bad sportsman ship but it gets me wondering why bother playing ? When your opponent is playing 50 yes 50 games of various day lengths all at the same time ? In my case it’s a 1day game and I get one move per day , I’m glad I don’t play 14 day games !!
Nghtstalker

I only use the poor sport or good sport if something outside the ordinary occurs.

If a player is rude etc they get a bad rating.  If they are polite for instance they have to leave the game and they let u know, or they are friendly or wish you well after they lost they get a good sport.  : )

Yes I would like to see more greetings and polite courtesies during the game.  But many do not.  Also it is great if you meet someone interesting if you chat after the game.  But not everyone agrees that is ok also.
