I agree. The forums here are not really geared toward helping you with chess, as they seem more about giving the members a place to argue about silly topics, troll each other, and spout off general nonsense. These forums are more like /4chan or the Wikipedia message boards with just a thin veneer of "chess."
Now what do you intiutively think is more instructive? Reading a peer edited and published book by a World Champion (Lets say "My 60 best games" by Fischer), or a 800-post long thread about how the 1.e4 2.Qh5 opening "PWNS"?
I feel like the understanding of my game has regressed immensely since I discovered these forums.
I spend too much time on these forums when I could be more productive.
