Carlsen is no longer as dominant as he once was, while he's still the favorite, I wouldn't say Caruana is a huge underdog. Also Caruana also has some fairly notable achieve achievements himself.

I can agree with that.
Yermo made an interesting comment in the Grenke recap, that back when Carlsen was winning every tournament and still losing rating points because of how high his rating was it was mostly older players at the top like Kramnik, Anand, Gelfand, Topalov etc. but now that the younger players are reaching the top, he's not doing as well (except against players like Nakamura and Mamedyarov) and that while he's still the best player, he's not scoring as well as he did against the older players. Just an observation I thought was interesting.
Honestly, Caruana, like Carlsen kind of popped out of nowhere. I think that chess is like graffiti. The new generation will always be better than the old one. But, some day that will top out and we will see a death and a rebirth of chess, or a ton of rule changes. I think Carlsen has had his time .

Has Caruana complained? Why stir up the pot? They are both used to traveling and playing internationally. And while distance could conceivable favor Carlsen, as others pointed out, language favors Caruana. And who knows which player favors the British food? There are many factors here, and I'm not prepared to say one way or the other who is favored by the location.

I'm sure Fabiano is pleased to a) be in the match b) have a nice venue to have the championship c) be hosted by a lovely city like London on the world stage. If it favors Magnus slightly, so be it. Travel is apart of the game for these guys and they are used to moving around. Magnus is getting old, let him have his rest. Personally, I look forward to the advantage going the other direction if Caruana wins. I would love to see more high profile tournaments held in America. I'm not sure if Caruana will start a Bobby Fischer-type chess boom, but I think it will definitely move the needle a little.

I'm not sure, but my advice would be to always bet as much as you can on the underdog. Think of all of the money you could win!
Caruana lives in Lugano, Switzerland, which is closer to London than Oslo.

Typical Americans blaming Carlsen for using his influence for an unfair venue, I would point out that Fide had chosen the venue for the Title Defence before the candidates had even been played, also the American opinion that Carlsen will lose because he is now playing his first decent quality rated challenger is utter rubbish, sorry but you mean to say that Visy Anand was not a worthy opponent he was 5 times champion of the world, also his last challenger was by a whisker very close to challenging again, to have the opinion that Carlsen is not a world class champion is ridiculous Nobody can touch him at quick play if there is a decider so on that Basis my vote is CARLSEN WILL WIN AGAIN!!!!!!
