To my knowledge, being a premium member does not alter your pairings. The 3 criteria used for pairings, are:

Your rating and selected rating range
Abusiveness and bad sportsmanship
Internet connection

Didn't Martin post a while back saying there was a setting that restricts you to premium members when challenginf?

I believe that is only for searching through open challenges. Not for automatic matchmaking.
