We no longer see who of our opponent has been banned. Why?
After chesscom did its job backing Magnus' baseless accusation against Niemann, it became clear they had a whole list of GMs who cheated online, but they chose to do a report only on Niemann to boost the story of their new (back then, owner of chess24, incorporated by chesscom) business partner. Now, the job is done, and there is no more need to give up the names of cheating GMs.
When I published similar comments in the past, someone from the chess.com staff replied, so I guess that someone replies this time as well. If not, it is not a tragedy.
I am a regular user and indeed: there is no more icons next to the names of the banned opponents. So within a couple of days they removed these icons from the game history but allowed regular users to use flairs next to their names which had been formerly available for paid users only...
I still see those icons in my game history. Maybe that change is still in the process of being rolled out?
I have noticed that when I look at the list of my games, it is no longer visible which of my opponents have been banned and which closed their accounts. A few days ago it was still visible. May I ask you why this change was made? I understand that it might look better this way, but hiding the problem is not a solution. First of all, I would like to know which accounts were banned. (One can still find it out by clicking on the user names of banned players, but it requires an extra effort.) Moreover, I used to look at the games against the banned opponents to get a better idea when I should be more careful, because it is less difficult to identify suspect players when you have such a feedback.
I don’t know yet if it’s a bug or something intentional; once I know something, I’ll let you know.

I am not sure if you understood my message. Witches do not exist, cheaters do. Most of the banned players were banned for a good reason. They are marked as banned on their profiles, so I think that they should be marked as banned in the game lists as well. It was the case until recently, and I do not like the recent change. It is no witch-hunt at all.

I agree. I feel like this change will only lend credence to a well-known former world champion who "does the procedure", and I've read about your experiences dealing with that crap. I hope you are doing well now.

Hi David, it's a pleasure to see that even we mortals can talk to GMs like you here and I really appreciate it. If I may add to this conversation, nowadays witch-hunting is a phrase that no longer refers to literal witches, but means something along the lines of an unfair campaign against a person.

You should be able to see any in your own game history. Viewing them on other member's profiles is currently bugged and staff are looking into it.
