Weak Moves Must Be Punished

To many times players are allowed to play premature h6 and a6 moves in the opening and they aren't punished with rapid development. However, I fail to do so and throw away my opening advantage and end up playing from behind.

I used to be like this. I'm guessing the other player liked symmetry, right? I don't think he realizes the value of developing his pieces yet. Anyways, you have a nice finish. : )

18...Bg4 looks like an improvement.

If 19. Qf2, maybe Qd6 20. Bc2 Nxe4

or 19. Qe3 Nh7 20. Bg5 f6 with an unclear position.

Anyways, nice game. Its hard to take advantage of 2 tempi, you have to be incredibly precise.

After 3...a6?, 4. g3 seems appealing, with the idea of deploying the light-squared bishop at h3, and then playing d5 as soon as feasible. The point is that Black's f8-bishop will be rendered a bad bishop and White will be able to challenge Black's good bishop on c8. Furthermore, should Black's pawn advance to e5 after White plays d5, f4 will be in the offing.

VERY interesting game - nice punishment!  :)

Those seemed odd squares to commit your Bishops in the opening..

A game I played here on chess.com. Probably very imprecise but I thought I'd try  to sacrifice material since my opponent spent all his precious time with a3 and

h3. Hope it is enjoyable!

A well earned victory for you!

I find thats its not easy to take advantage of moves like a6 and h6, especially at quick chess (what were the time limits here?) , lots of players at one minute just move pawns forward one square, you obtain a great position, and lose on time!

I suppose one feels that these tempo losing moves in the opening deserve to be punished , but its never quite so easy to do just that (at least for me), I remember Miles beating Karpov as black with 1 a6! , at the end of the day if one develops correctly, the tempi gained will usually count, especially in longer time controls.

I agree, but it was just a 2 min game.  So I was just developing without much thought.
