weak squares are just squared that are protected very weakly or have no protectors. they are very crucial factors that affect games results so you must carefully take them to consideration. weak squares generally give the opponent easy access points to mate or invade on your territory. for example you play g3 as white but don't fianchetto your bishop there. so you have weak color complex on g2, h3, and f3.
