Why do the posts calling other people stupid invariably look like they are written by a pre-schooler?
Wesley So resigned after 6 moves

Ok, I can see how this is a rule and Wesley So should not have broken it.
Still seems a bit strange this comes up now and may actually have an impact on who becomes the US champion.

Grammar can't score -9000 as it in too trivial. Message more important than the way message written. I'd accept grammar -0.0001
I think it's pretty clear that you consider it trivial.

From the FIDE Laws of Chess:
8.1b The scoresheet shall be used only for recording the moves, the times of the clocks, offers of a draw, matters relating to a claim and other relevant data,
11.3a During play the players are forbidden to use any notes, sources of information or advice, or analyse any game on another chessboard.
Not that I want to start an argument or debate (especially since I think the arbiter's actions were entirely justified) but technically...
...So wasn't guilty 8.1b because the notes he wrote weren't on his scoresheet and...
...he can also argue he wasn't guilty of 11.3a because he didn't use his notes, information, or advice.
If I make a note to stay out of time trouble, and then I get into time trouble, I certainly didn't use that information or advice, now did I.
11.3a should be reworded so that no note taking is allowed at all, and not limit the wording to just not using the notes.

FIDE has draconian consequences in high-level tournaments. If your wristwatch or cell phone beeps you forfeit a game. If you show up one second late for a round you forfeit a game. Tony Rich made the correct call after warning So. Really unfortunate, but correct.

I can't believe people are claiming he shouldn't have been forfeited after 2 warnings about breaking the rules and yet he carried on doing it. Either he doesn't understand the rules of the tournament he is playing in, in which case he should read up, or he just doesn't care and has no respect for his opponents.
Either way, how sensible a rule is is irrelevant. If we allow players to start breaking rules at will we'll have people playing illegal moves next.

this is the us "chamopinship" not only we see a low level chess (helpmate and blunders is the opening !) we see this impudence, a super GM like SO who didn't make any thing illegal (and please, for those stupids who say it's a distraction,if u r a chicken like akobian u can consider anything as a distraction) just taking notes for God's sake !! (again please , for those stupids who say it maight be a code or something, there is many things a player can do beside writing notes to serve like codes) ...,,maybe yankees don't deserve a strong player like So to somewhat level up their stupid tournaments as they didn't deserve the almighty Fische before he spat on their government..
Well it was Wesley's decision to emigrate to the United States, given that it is not a Chess country, it always seemed an odd choice to me. I am sure many federations such as Germany or Holland would love to have Wesley play for them. Perhaps he will reconsider his decision. If he has the talent to seriously think about becoming the World Champion someday, the US is not the place to be to achieve this. Nakamura is finding out that out for himself. No one cares if you are the "Number 2 or 3" player by rating, inflating your rating by beating weakies and washed up former Soviet emigres', it is what you do in the championship cycle that counts, and to date he has doesn't much.
I also agree on foul pool by Akobian. Distracting ? Really ? By his own admission, he knew that So had been warned about this and yet he went to Arbiter to complain. He knew a forfeit would have been the likely result. Then in the post-op interview he acts so contrite and shocked that Wesley was forfeited. What a hypocrite.
If I was in Akobian's position, not only would I not complain to the Arbiter, but I would find a way to get him to stop.
This rule is poorly written too. It simply says use notes. What about doodling ? I often draw symbols on my scoresheet in long tedious games, would this constitute a rule breach and get me disqualified.
Lots of things can be much distracting. Ie; I notice when playing, Ray Robson likes to hover his head within an inch of the pieces. If I was playing him, this would drive me absolute nuts. Would this constitute "distracting" behaviour, afterall, he is often obstructing his opponents view of the board, with his head in the way.
So much stupid in one little post! Wesely So came the U.S. because e wants toGiven Nakamura's success against every top GM in the world with one notable exception, your attacks on him make you look like an envious, inadequate loser.
Wesely So seems like a terrific player and a nice guy, but how many warnings to you get to ignore? Akobian was completely within his rights and blameless.
Of course he warned So, but there was obviously a misunderstanding about what was being warned. Rich thought it was writing any notes at all, and So thought it was writing any notes on the scoresheet. That's why So brought an extra piece of paper to the game. So should have clarified the matter further with Rich, that was his negligence. Rich may have assumed that So was intentionally defying him, which was not the case.

I have been having trouble concentrating so I wrote a note to myself on a piece of paper (not my score sheet) ...it said: double check triple check use your time. Akobian saw it and complained to the arbiter and a forfeit was declared. I'm sorry I did not know it was against the rules.

Wesley knew it was against the rules because they repeatedly told him this when he was doing it against Shankland. The TD said the next time he did it, he would lose the game. He doesn't have a good excuse.

So is playing badly in this tournament, losing to 2500s twice and playing so shaky in his wins. There is no way he is going to win it like this. The forfeiture was mere irony for an otherwise disastorous tournament. It wont change the result for him.

I guess it really depends on exactly what the arbiter warned him against. Maybe he was specifically warned against writing on his score card, so he thought using a separate piece of paper was ok.

He got caught cheating and was forfeited.
Silent, shut up with false accusations. You don't know the circumstances around it. He was caught writing notes on several occassions. Other players have 'noted' (pun intentended) that this isn't that uncommon of a practice, but it isn't a strictly enforced FIDE rule; however, it is a rule and he was warned about it in the tournament. He continued taking notes on a separate score sheet paper, perhaps believing the rule only pertained to the match score sheet for legality. The rule may not have been thoroughly explained for him to understand ALL notes, but I'm not going to speculate.
