@Pokimane is a very popular streamer. The WGM is just a joke, it will most likely be taken away after pogchamps is over.
It's not that serious, Just an internet icon not a title. They aren't actually grandmasters.

One thing to give a false title of master to popular streamers, another to give a real life title of WGM to someone who hasn't earned the title. Not fair towards those who have spent years, or even more than a decade to earn that title. For me it's a mockery, but hey who cares what I think. 
chess.com are more interested in advertising their website to new customers and spreading it to new communities.
They don't really care about whether the titles are fought for and earned through hard work. If there's monetary gain in an action they will pursue it. U just have to accept thats how chess.com operates.
i think its also for the free premium so that the streamers have access to all the tools.
Chill, these are temporary titles for the upcoming tournament. Other streamers get these and then it's removed afterwards.

So if I temporarily get to call myself a PhD in say electrical engineering, the fact that it is a temporary thing makes it ok to real PhD-s who actually put in the lifelong effort into achieving it?
I understand why are they doing it, but that doesn't make it ok. They already have that honorary invented title of master, so why not giving participants that title instead of the actual title that is earned through hard effort?

Of course it's ok since everyone knows you don't have an actual PhD in electrical engineering. You are not getting a job that requires that PhD. Everyone is aware your title is purely decrotative and temporariy. Similar to if make-a-wish foundation and FIFA arranged a terminaly ill person to be their favorite team goalie for part of a game. It doesn't invalidate the actual goalie at all since everyone is self-aware of the reason behind it.
I don't believe actual WGM or GM lose anything since none of these streamers are given the respect or treated/regarded as actual WGM and GMs are.
Who will watch pogchamps3? I am definitely won't.
I watched how Hikaru taught Pokimane and could do it only for couple minutes. Mega boring.

Typical of Chess com they care influencers, titled players, idk even why i am playing this site should just stick with 2 other sites (One is where Magnus is owner, always happy to support the Champion! and other site is free no ads and fast)

How is this player a WGM with a 300 rating? Can we stop devaluing other players (that actually are legitimate WGMs such as Nemsko) by handing out fake titles?
