u hired a coach on this site. (PAID MONEY) and yet u want chess.com to have a format so you can get lessons from a coach where u found him. Duh Duh why pay money for lessons when u can't face the coach... face to face........
What are Chess.com's future goals
quny,
was that supposed to be a helpful post? Why don't you think before you post? Duh Duh
Did it cross your mind that some people don't live anywhere near a good coach to train them face to face? The closest is in another state!
People like me have to rely on lessons over the net. You missed the whole point of my post. I was only giving an example.
ICC offers almost everything chess.com offers, but ICC has a list of coaches AND has a way that you can share a board, setup positions and chat in a way that is similar to face to face coaching, right on ICC.
Here is my point again: I PAY (yes, PAID MONEY) for a membership on chess.com. The more features Chess.com has, the more members they will get, and keep. No one wants to pay for multiple memberships if there is only one feature you want from each, but 95% of the other features are the same.
oh i got the message I truly understand what you was asking for. You get what u pay for. I know its hard to find a coach sometimes a chess club in our surrounding areas. But I would not pay someone to teach me to sharpen my skills. If I paid i want my monies worth. Is the coach willing to get up lets say 2 o'clock in the morning to answer my question since i work the day shift. my point is u should ask yourself these questions before throwing money out the window.

One of the problems with online coaching is that with all the computer assistance available, even I could pass off as a decent coach. (No seriously! I'm not kidding!) So you don't really know what you're getting is solid advice from a players heart, or the silicon heart of a machine.

i was thinking the same thing mmtbb, there should be a format where you can set up positions randomly as well as undo moves for learning purposes. maybe set up a coach lounge or just learning area.

we have lots of future goals :)
the top 3 are:
1. live chess improvements (including live coaching)
2. video lectures
3. site just for kids/parents/coaches

Erik- Are these video lectures likely to be part of Chess Mentor, or some cheaper membership, or even free? Thanks.

Maybe you are right, but I hope not :-) I have tried to be careful in my selection. I picked FM Valeri Lilov. He has great reviews, and others being coached by him are reporting good results. I guess I'll find out.
Erik,
This is exactly what I wanted to hear. This would facilitate exactly what I wanted. When I realized I would have to get a monthly membership to ICC to get my lessons, I figured I might as well drop chess.com and just buy a membership to ICC.
Any time frames?
Really, is there a time frame for when the live features need to get coached will be up?
I have paid for a month on Chess.com mainly for the Chess Mentor program. However, now that I am paying for a coach, I really just need a good place to settle down, play games for a rating, and take lessons. I hope this is the place. I have to decide by the time my PlayChess trial runs out (this is where I taking lessons right now). How reasonable is it to have it up within the month?
Seeing that Chess.com, ICC, PlayChess.com and others require a monthly fee. It would be nice if one site could have everything. What are some of the goals of chess.com
For instance, I just hired a coach to help me improve. I found the coach here on chess.com, BUT I need a membership on playchess or ICC to actually take the lessons.
It would be nice if Chess.com had a format to allow my coach to give me lessons here, where I found him.
Is this feature in the works?
