Nothing is impossible
Too easily disapproved
Think what you want...does that make a difference to me? I'm only saying that if this dude wants to be 2300 and is trying his hardest...why are you criticizing? What did this guy ever do to you people?
I support that reasoning as well, it's never too late to aim for a title especially a FIDE one which is a bit more difficult to achieve. however, he is young and like me who will turn 19 this year in September I also want to become an FM so it is realistic but requires a lot of dedication to OTB tournaments daily. I had to spam over a hundred tournaments last year and waste around almost 2kUSD to get NM which is pretty cheap compared to the amount of money most other people have wasted inching closer but failing to reach the final breaking point.
for FM it will require serious devotion to an opening repertoire of solid and effective engine lines alongside good tactical vision and understanding. if you have good intuition that will also help a lot in improving your level near FM.. keep in mind I am an NM. I do believe this guy can get to FM and if not well at least a title like NM he could achieve at minimum considering lack of time left due to work and other responsibilities.
I like to prove people wrong when they say it's not possible to become an FM yet I want to disprove that as my goal for this year till next summer if not then achieve it before I turn 22 and if I achieve it early then IM will be the goal and then ultimately GM... is it realistic? not? could I be lucky? its a possibility and I ain't waiting till I get any older to find out as I need to use all my limited time rn to make a big step for my chess as a whole so again in short you have everything It takes to become an FM as long as you make your life chess which is difficult but every passion comes with a huge downside and you have to make the commitment if you really do want to become an FM within the next 2-5 years but again I think you can do it
I agree with the comment above that this guy shouldn't be criticized for asking this question as many people didn't have a title and then slowly got to a huge milestone, there are even rare cases of late GMs and IMs in this generation who started chess around their 20's or returned only to make progress and become stronger. i hope the best for your journey but know that even if it isn't realistic to achieve there is no point in feeling depressed easily, you rather die trying
I know I would cheers mate have a nice night ciao! gn
