Not really. Go is played on a larger board and while it's been said to have more variations, it doesn't really matter. There are more 40 move variations in Chess than there are stars in the Galaxy. Even if it's assumed that Go is more complex, the human mind isn't powerful enough for it to make any difference. It should also be noted that the nature of the two games is very different; Go features stones that CAN'T move, while Chess features pieces that MUST move. I personally think Go is easier to learn than Chess, but that doesn't necessarily make Go easier to play.
is Go a technically harder game then chess
Chess and Go are very different games, so comparing them is really hard. And Chess and Go are harder in their own ways, such as Chess is tactically harder than Go.
played tourney chess for more than 20 years, elo sth like 22xx... go since 2020... i think go is much harder, my opinion...
and the same discussion on the go forums ![]()
and go is not faster/slower more or less strategical, imho the main difference is that the complexity grows and grows almost till the end (the last 50 moves most often are fillers). the number of stones increase and increase and -best- there is no draw! (jigo)
In my opinion, chess is harder than go. Both games are incredibly strategically complicated and go is a harder game for computers. However, for humans, the fact that chess has pieces that are all different, and all have very unique abilities, and go really just has one piece, chess is harder. That being said, go has around 5.5 times more squares than chess so I can see the other side as well
