Eh, I guess I still owe you a serious answer. 
I think most of the better engines have quite a bit of positional knowledge baked into the evaluation function, so they really can play nice positional games. The only problem with the engines is that this positional knowledge is simply reduced to a numerical evaluation, and it can't explain any of these positional ideas to the user.
