It really depends on the level of the student. Someone who knows most, but not all, of the rules might ask things like "Can I castle if my rook is in check?" or "Why can't I en passant here?" It also depends on your coaching style - are you going to demostrate techniques, play games, go over master games, go over the student's games, solve chess problems, or something else? Questions are likely to be related to what you're teaching. Questions of "Why was this move played?" or "What should I have done differently?" might be asked a lot. If they're just asking questions, they might ask something like "What's the best opening?"

Thanks!

"Coach, why are you asking people on chess.com how you should teach your classes? Should I really trust and pay someone who needs to ask such questions so he can learn how to coach others?"
Sorry to have to say that, and I am not wanting to seem rude, but honestly, if I were looking for a chess coach and saw him asking a question such as this, I would have zero confidence in him and would look elsewhere for a coach who is proven to be competent and has a clearcut curriculum already in place.
Like I said I'm new to it so I don't get why you even posted this. It's foolish to go into a venture and not know at all what to expect
