It is actually checkmate.You won.
When you give a check it's your opponent's turn.If your opponent has no move that can save the king , means it is not only check , it's also checkmate.You didn't checkmate him on his move.You checkmated him on your move.His inability to make a move verifies it.

So hey , i was wondering if anyone could help me out because i was playing chess in real life against my brother it was probably about 12:05am ,in my timezone, and we played chess and i put him in check but but he couldn't make a move nor kill my horse but you cant checkmate during the opponents turn because i said check and his turn started and it couldn't be called a stalemate either as his king was in check so what do we call this as it is was still his turn?
