what can I do wait until they timeout days later ??

If you are the one who will win the game, then take the game to the very end.

Are you going to beat your opponent in your game?

Dragec
report him if you wish, as that behaviour is against laws of chess (conduct of the players). Otherwise just ignore it, set a conditional move mate(you said it's mate next move) and relax. And if you like, you may also block the opponent.
trysts

Go out and have a nice dinnerSmile

Fezzik was faster. :-)

Well, you just have to wait it out and laugh at your opponent's desperation.

YES !! your opponent would rather lose on time than get mated . Then so be it FORGET ABOUT HIM.

gordonyoung

Same thing happened to me.Keep refusing offer and you will win in end.You

could also say if he doesnt want to play he should resign.

Dragec

Go to the game, you will see a conditional move button.

Play the anticipated move from your opponent and then your reply.

P.S. regarding draw offers, I assume if you don't decline it(just ignore it) he probably can't send another offer.

thx for this advice which i have followed Dragec..

funnily enough for chess-fiends opponent is in ' Sofia ' & playing in the ' Bulgarian Open ' tournament currently taking place on this site.. :-)

Cystem_Phailure

This shouldn't be a problem at all, especially if it really is only one move until mate.  Even if you don't respond, if it's his move his clock should continue counting down.  He has to either move or time out.

netzach, you wrote "repeatedly" which seems to imply it has happened more than once with one particular opponent.  If so, find another opponent and do as trysts suggested, "Go out and have a nice dinner."

netzach

no ....you misunderstand it is a rare occurrence & has never happened to me before.

whilst you are hinting ' chill-out ' & forget about it is in a Tournament play, am having to play several games simultaneously so is v annoying !

yakushi12345

You commited to play the game, the fact that you have to wait a few days for it to end shouldn't be bothering you.

If you clearly win next turn, he can only stall one time period worth of time which shouldn't interfere with the tournament at all.

netzach

well ok....true.... but after all that's over I have to play him again in the 2nd match so.....aargh.!!

yakushi12345

Just think of it as a chance to demolish him for wasting time.

Not sure how online tournaments work. Can the guys who open them disqualify people for that kind of poo poo? Should be more consequences for being a rear end in a top hat.
