++ This is a known psychological phenomenon. When you are rated 1600 and you play an opponent rated 1200, then you expect an easy win and you lower your guard. The 1200 player expects to lose and gives it his best effort.

The idea of it being something psychological did cross my mind but some times Ive lost to an 800 and I am like, am I that bad!!. No disrespect to people rated 800 but I always though that if you are rated 1600 you shouldn't loose to an 800 even if you are not paying that much attention.
I am lower rated and I am stuck low but I win more against higher rated players.

Hi, I am currently rated around 1600 and 1700 in my second account and lately I found that is much easier form me to play people around that rating but sometimes when I play people rated 12++, 13++, 14++ I found myself losing soundly and I wanted to ask your guys´s opinion, is this normal? is it a sign that I am near my ceiling? I know people here can be very supportive but i prefer to get realistic opinions rather than encouraging ones.
