Believe what you want to believe.
What do you think GM Hikaru IQ is?
Oh yes. Another person on the Internet thinking IQ is wrong. You're not the only person. Come up with a better way to measure intelligence then.
IQ tests were not designed to quantify intelligence, but to distinguish normal intelligence from mentally handicapped/learning disabled intelligence in school children. It has evolved, somewhat, but is still not a good quantitative indicator since it is not calibrated for measuring intelligence exactly, especially for values that deviate more than +/-15 from standard.
Can you even define intelligence yourself? Without referring to IQ, I mean.
Next questions. Why is it so important to you to be able to define intelligence by a number/measure, and why is it so important to you that Hikaru is a genius?
Answer those honestly and ponder them, and you might be showing some signs of intelligence .
You're the one who thinks IQ is fake, you big coper. I assume you scored very low on an IQ test as a child.
He never said IQ is fake. Take a read back and try to understand what he’s explaining and perhaps you’ll come to a logical conclusion. That’s what IQ tests are supposed to measure, righr?
He basically called IQ pseudoscience. That last sentence of yours is unnecessary.
In essence, an IQ test’s results are commonly mistaken for intelligence or lack thereof, when instead it simply measures reasoning and problem solving abilities- which does not equal intelligence. And every sentence here is unnecessary.
Intelligence is reasoning and problem solving abilities...
Not in the sense that it is demonstrated on an IQ test my friend
You don't know any IQ tests.
I hope this thread comes to an end!
Not much more to say on this subject, 19 pages of comments and the question still stands.
Actually this is an asked and answered thing, 102

It's clearly not 102. Again... If he's 102, then everyone else at his level and below him are at lower IQ. It makes no sense.

IQ ≠ chess rating. Top players do not have to have a high iq, they have a weak correlation and that’s the best argument you can make
He didn't take that IQ test seriously. You're foolish to think he did.
High IQ means you have high fluid reasoning and memory which are correlated to chess skill.
Weakly correlated, yes. As has already been pointed out to you, many times.
The silly part is that you keep pushing the idea that his IQ *must* be higher. It doesn't even matter, because IQ is an outdated measure. Hikaru's achievements speak for themselves, and are far more relevant than asking what his IQ is. In a century from now, IQ will be looked upon in the same arena as astrological sign...
I mostly agree with what you said but your last sentence is false. As you already said, IQ is useful for diagnosing mental disabilities.

So you think 102 IQ can beat Magnus Carlsen? Someone who has been estimated at 190?

1.) estimated by who, and 2.) there’s a big difference between Magnus’ rating and Hikaru’s, they are not one and the same. If they were the same rating than yeah, any day
and I have a friend with 140 iq, yet after learning a bit about chess is only 700, iq does not cause an increase in rating, only a link via correlation. Have you learned the difference between correlation and causation? Might be a good lesson

Hikaru was once ranked 2nd in the world with a peak rating of 2816. You think a 102 IQ can do this?
Your friend probably doesn't care much about chess.
Do you know how easy it is to score more than 102? Why don’t you try the test yourself? Here https://test.mensa.no/
You only need to answer 20 out of 35 questions to score more than 102. It shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes. Here is a proof.

You see how easy the test is, right? Saying Hikaru wasn’t trying so he got 102 doesn’t make much sense.

A 102 IQ being 6th in the world in chess doesn't make much sense either.
I think it's 175, mine is 148, im gifted.
Yes, a gifted person who can't even beat 200-rated players.
Another indication that high IQ doesn't correlate with great chess ability.
He's lying about his IQ. It's some 80-IQ kid claiming to be 140 IQ.
Why should I believe your opinion that he's lying? You've posted enough unsubstantiated twaddle here that your judgement is suspect.
Why do you assume he's saying the truth about his IQ? Hello?
I have no proof either way. Quite a few posters here seem to think they can tell what someone's IQ is based on zero evidence, or even despite the evidence of a publicly-taken IQ test. Why should I believe your uniformed guess?
