Hikaru Nakamura (born December 9, 1987) is an American chess grandmaster and streamer. A chess prodigy, he was at the time the youngest American to earn the title of Grandmaster in 2003, aged 15 years and 79 days. Nakamura is a five-time United States champion. He won the 2011 edition of Tata Steel Chess Tournament Group A and represented the United States at five Chess Olympiads, winning a team gold medal and two team bronze medals.

156-158 - Genius IQ level. When it comes to chess, few are better than Hikaru Nakamura. His combination of a high IQ and his training since childhood has been key to his success in becoming one of the best players in history.

He also picked a street fight and got choked out by a fellow GM; that’s wasn’t very bright was it?

It’s one thing to be short, but arrogant and annoying are two different things. Wouldn’t surprise me if he lost IQ points afterwards.

When did that happen?

Like 140... but not super high? Magnus is like 190 so just to compare maybe higher?

Don't forget to multiply by 69420 and spam "poggers" in chat when calculating the IQ.

Bruh you have to be serious right now.

Most likely above 85. After that, IQ is almost meaningless.

IpanthI

istg someone among u has taken an online iq test to find out their iq and whoever did this should know that is not your real iq , a real iq test lasts for one to two hours and there are 15 different subjects they base your iq off of

IpanthI

also chess has nothing to do with iq , levy has 100 iq and is international master

monkey
Maybe 145?

It's probably right. The Mensa IQ test isn't really a good pointer though. The human brain has been separated into 7 categories, when it comes to IQ. While he most likely scores very high in calculation, he might have a bad score in arts. This is why, when taking an IQ test, a lot of people think they're genius, because they score very high, but that's because they're taking a test that focuses on a single genre of IQ tests. when it comes to calculation and remembrance, I bet he scores very high, in the 120's.

You can't quantify a person's intelligence based on IQ alone. IQ is an outdated concept that served to affirm various types of atrocities, in Nazi Germany about 5,000 children were killed for allegedly having a low IQ. Nakamura is extremely intelligent, has a quick wit and an absurdly effective working memory. IQ is not an intelligence meter!

Oh, here’s something I found online about it.

Hikaru takes Mensa IQ Test
In 2020, Hikaru undertook the Mensa online IQ tests, in which he scored 102. Considering that average IQ is 100, Nakamura seems to have only slightly passed the average person's IQ. Nakamura is a very good chess player, but he practices chess more than an average person.Apr 15, 2021

Ofc, this is just an online one and won’t be the most accurate, but it’s interesting still

are you kidding ? I have way more than that surprise.png

I have strong doubts about this asserment as it seems impossible given his chess abilities

Nakamura is a living proof that IQ tests are nonsense. [mine is 133, and that's not from an internet test. so this doesn't come from jealousy]. even Wikipedia, which usually has quotes from resources, say that its not clear what this test is exactly testing.

It's pretty obvious that the test Nakamura took was seriously flawed. You don't become a GM with an IQ of 102. Actually I'd be extremely surprised if any GM at all would ever have an IQ under 130, even less so a so-called 'Super GM' ... You can make it pretty far with practice and knowledge, but like in any discipline, you can only ever attain the elite level with a combination of hard work / practice and natural ability... Either Nakamura didn't take the test properly (not concentrated/etc), or the test was complete rubbish. Possibly a combination of both. Either way, no way a super GM has an IQ of 102 ...

I totally agree with you but I'd say you'd be able to do anything with an IQ of 120 (smarter than 90%)

but 102 is so close to average !!!
