Listen, he may be smart. But it is his knowledge of the game and extensive years of hard work and dedication that made him the player he is today. IQ refers to general knowledge in various different areas, Chess is ONE SINGULAR area that does not refer to IQ. If I was really good at chess but dumb at math's and science, I would NOT have a high IQ. It is very possible that there are good chess players that are bad at regular academics, just look. Your argument doesn't make sense and is invalid. Learn the definition of IQ before arguing.

One problem with this thread is that people take for granted as an indisputable fact that IQ measures real intelligence. This is the same thing that creating an argument about why capybaras prefer the dollar to the euro...
