Well I should try that out!
What do you think of the Max Lange?
I played a game face to face with my brother but I'm not sure if I did it right. are these moves after the opening good?
@NintendoMaster853 Yes, but there are a lot of complicated variations. If you have a chess coach, maybe you could ask them to look into showing you? Or use a search engine or attacking book.
WAIT! you played it wrong. You CAN NOT allow your opponent to get their king safe. warning: this attack is risky.
The Max Lange will not happen without Black's approval:
Playing 3.d4 (exd4 4.Bc4) first does not change anything.

Very Interesting. Thanks.

@pfren Actually, that's not true. Our chess coach showed us what to play against d6. Also, I have played 100 or so games with the max lange and... no one played d6. I just said at my level. doesn't mean I'm talking about your level or anything. The Max Lange seems to work at this level at any rate and I beat one of my chess coaches with it... mind you, they were only 1800. If I had beaten one of my other coaches, I would've beaten a 2570. Which I don't think would've happened.
after 5... Nxe4? 6. Re1 and it gets in to all sorts of complicated variations, all of which white is winning in..
...d6 and ...Nxe4 don't work... But ...Bxd4 might. Yeah, I'll have to check up on that. If it works, whatever, I'll keep playing the Max Lange but maybe use it against the Max Lange?
No one is showing me "some other aggressive lines" if they don't like the Max Lange. Just critisizising it.

My only problem (as Black) is to create realistic winning chances.
Maybe with the modest 5...Nxe4! 6.Re1 d5 7.Bxd5 Qxd5 8.Nc3 Qd7!? (8...Qa5 and 8...Qh5 have been exchaustively analysed to a flat equal position). I have a great score as Black with 8...Qh5, but objectively the position is equal (insert some ten more book moves for each side).
Here is one of the worst games I have ever played (against a Greek IM and theoretician).
Labelling 5...Nxe4 as bad shows you know very little (if anything) about it.
What do you think of the Max Lange? I play it and think it is awesome, but I was wondering what other people thought of it. Personally, I think it's totally amazing at my level (900-1400) since at this level it's really easy to trick people with it. If you think it's bad, can you show me some other aggressive lines after 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Bc4? 3... Bc5 or 3... Nf6 (other than the Moler)
