If you see people with CM, FM, IM or GM before their username, it means that they have a real life chess title, Candidate Master, FIDE Master, International Master or Grandmaster respectively.

For example. If Garry Kasparov would create an account on this site, and proves that he is indeed Garry Kasparov, the title GM would be assigned to him by the chess.com staff.

I actually think that firebrandx has provided the strongest argument ever on any forum I have read, to close this topic. His proposals are soo funny and brillinant, I just want to come back to this thread periodically to get a laugh by reading his post and not having to wade through the LPs

The title actually refers to your moves in chess games:

CM = Crappy Moves

NM = Negligent Moves

FM = Foolish Moves

IM = Immature Moves

GM = Good Moves.
