Patzer is also a very over-used word by people in a condescending way towards people who have a lower online 'rating,' even if their opinions are valid. Really though, anybody who throws around the word "patzer" like it's some original 'insult' is an idiot, and compared to people who are better than them at chess, a patzer as well.
I was refering to this website deweyoxberger :) I dont think I've ever heard it used at a chess club tbh.

Do not use the word “patzer” and don’t play with people who use it to call someone. Usually it is an insult. But it is the kind of insult that only makes the one who says it appear arrogant, cringeworthy, a poser.

Perhaps it might be acceptable to use the term "patzer" to describe oneself, though, in self-deprecating humour or perhaps accurate confession of one's modest abilities in the game. And no matter how good or poor a player who makes such a confession really is, someone else will doubtless agree that he or she is a patzer.
