A patzer is a poor chess player, like a 600.
What Does ''Patzer'' Mean?
We're all patzers until we stop making regular blunders. I don't know what rating that's at but much higher than me.
When I was at a tournament at Chess4Life in Bellevue, my parents are expecting me to win a chess game in a tournament, but I, no joke, DID NOT win a single game, because I was staring at the window and watching cars driving instead of focusing on the chess game, and a student, who is Indian, checkmated my king, because they think that I am playing worse than they do. I got grounded for not practicing enough chess, and my family said that if I do not keep practicing chess, I will be called "the worst chess player ever", or maybe a "Patzer". A patzer is a chess player who has bad skills at practicing chess and not improving. I even have fogs in my head because of this.
First, I'd like to disagree with the individual who said if you don't know what a Patzer is, you're probably a Patzer. I doubt I am one because I am brand new, and humble, and trying to learn the basics. If it's a bad player, then is every beginner a Patzer? And if Patzer is an insult or condescending as many say, then why insult everyone who's trying to learn the game? Don't we want more people?
Now besides my little rant (if it seems like one anyhow), I came here because someone in another forum said he got Pazteritis. Can anyone explain what that means? It's a change in his game supposedly, he read this or that and he ended up with Patzeritis. Does that simply mean he got worse? If so, why even say Patzeritis?
Thanks in advance everyone. I'm so excited to get better at Chess. I hope I can learn to love it, even as I feel so, so bad right now LOL.
