yeah but it looked like he was microsleeping, sleep exhaustion is terrible for you if youre depressed so it was probably both. Even his friends were telling him to sleep. Ive had the same symptoms where all i can think about negative thoughts and im sleep deprived so it was like dying internally. Its really sad, i feel so bad. Them again i dont know everything so im just guessing. Im sure those closer to him know

Of all the theories, mental health was most likely. The Kramnik cheating allegations had been bothering him for years. In one of his streams, he said he can't play well off screen or he'd be accused of cheating. It clearly took a toll on him, evidenced by his last stream, and his statements leading up to it. Did he take his own life? We don't know. Maybe it was caused by his health slowly deteriorating due to stress and pressure. Chess takes a physical toll. Even more so when some Russian guy is rampaging around accusing people of cheating and trying to ruin their reputation.

The police are investigating, and they imply his death has been confirmed.
