What happened to Nakamura in Norway

I would have thought losing a chess game would be the worst thing that could happen to me today. Guess I was wrong!

Before today's round, Nakamura complained that he was going to be on a boat heading for an island. He was afraid of getting seasick.

Perhaps this helps explain his play.

Or, Karjakin just played an incredible game.

Let's make it happen!

There's a guy who's a Lifemaster on Chessgames that said he was a cheater, so I was wondering if he got caught or something.

He thought he was going to get a fork but it turned out to be a fjord.

Nakamura had played well in this tournament. Then again Karajakin is hardly a patzer is he?

Why whinge?? He blundered his Q and this is his own fault nobody elses.

Naka chose to play in this elite tournament because he loves Norway, loves great competition, and loves money. He gets all three this way.

He has said that the food and hotel accomodations are fantastic. The only thing he doesn't like is the currency. He complained that a chicken tikka masala dinner cost $45. But apart from that, he has had nothing but positive things to say about his stay in Norway.

He really has matured a great deal, as shown by the way he plays chess. He still plays bullet chess ideas occasionally, but he has become far more objective in his evaluations, as seen in the Nakamura Svidler game. Rather than go for complications that could only favor black, he chose to allow an immediate draw. (They are using the Sophia rule, so allowing a perpetual check is the fastest way to draw these games.)

Nakamura is currently fifth behind Karjakin, Carlsen, Aronian and Anand. He hasn't played the fish in the group, Jon Ludvig Hammer, yet. Yes, it's strange to call a +2600 player a fish, but he is clearly the weakest player in the group and every other player expects to score a full point against him, as white or as black.

Nakamura's having a good tournament in Norway, but Karjakin is having a fantastic tournament! Not too many people can claim to have beaten Aronian, Nakamura and Radjabov all in the same tournament, even if Radja's having a bad time getting back into the game.
