I think it's kind of like playing country music backwards......your wife comes back, with your dog and your truck.

Duck

then your rating hits zero

StemGinge

You will automatically qualify for a key position within the UN, NATO or your local council.

AlCzervik

can i choose the position? i don't want to be ambassador to antarctica.

DrSpudnik

When Antarctica thaws out, will we need to bring ants there to make it live up to its name?

Your rating never hits zero.  The lowest possible rating for every mode on Chess.com (and in real life tournaments too) is 100.

Reaching zero is probably more difficult than becoming a master :)

True, to reach a rating of zero, you would need to lose to someone with a negative rating.

No becuase if you lose to 100 rating above you you still lose like 6 rating

DrSpudnik

Rating floors exist. People can beat you and get points, but you don't lose any.

AlCzervik

so, i'll never be a zero?

ChesslegendArhan

It is impossible. Even if you lose 1 million games, at some point, you will lose zero points and to do this, you will have to lose to someone with negative points.

bruh i literally just said that you don't have to lose someone with negative points. You can still lose rating points to someone whos 200 points higher than you. The only reason nobody has a rating of 0 is because chess.com doesn't allow it. The minimum your rating can be is 0.

I know a USCF 1700 player who had an exceptional result at one big money tournament and he got a 2000 rating. He really isn't a 2000, but he's stuck with this rating and stopped playing in 2010.

devonniscoool

you will be spawned in a parallel universe with me and we will fight.

I have defeated many beings from many universes and we will fight it out. I have superpowers and i can control time. I can even spawn black holes or erase your knowledge of chess altogether. So don ´ t ever hit 0 or you will have to face your toughest foe.

If I win which I will, then you will be dragged to the universe of the abyss. The universe where everyone is wailing in pain and begging to go back. But if you win, which you won ´ t, you will be freed.

AlCzervik

i know a guy that tried to get to zero. a good player, ~16-1700. he lost by bringing his king out in every game, and was eventually banned by the site.

he did it to make a point that rating here does not matter.

he was right.

it also shows how petty those here are.

Sadlone

Two things will happen, u will get a title which will say , master with special abilities, second they will recommend you to FIDE to be their representative for players with special abilities

Scipio

The minimum rating is 100
