See what I mean?
lol
HAHAHAHA! Yes, I see what you mean!
LOL, maybe I've just been lucky. I've spent quite a bit of time on at least four other fora with widely varying interests. It seems like the jerk to normal person ratio is higher here than on those sites. And, no Borg, you're not one of them.
That I'm not good enough to play 1. e4 or 1. d4, and that I suck at bullet /blitz chess but not too bad at turn based.
I learned that people should resign when they have a bad position
I learned about this idea. I don't agree with it and a lot of reasons I've read given by some players here at chess dot com concerning resignation, but I understand this thinking when it comes to competitive or professional chess, where time is more of an issue. I'll play out bad positions because I am still learning and having fun playing friends or family. it may seem silly to still try to win the game and give it my best effort after finding myself in a bad position. Being in a bad position doesn't mean the game is pointless or completely lost.
chess players are more annoying on average than videogame players.
disable live chat is a good thing.
I learned to carefully consider stuff I am about to post, and not to be rude to other people on the internet.

Success.
I learned that chess players are not as intelligent as I had assumed they would be.
Ditto.
Why would they be? It's not like chess is a hard game to learn.
Obviously it is primarily intelligent people who are attracted to chess because they are often best at calculating and strategizing. How hard it is to learn has nothing to do with it.

Saying GG is arrogant.
Not saying anything is arrogant
Resigning too early is rude
Resigning too late is rude
It's believed to be novel by the OP whenever they post live chess games depicting a rude opponent. Theirs is believed to be the first rude online chess player ever encountered.
The aforementioned OP never realizes how thinly guised his post is, and that the real loser is himself (or herself) for thinking their personal business was interesting to anyone in the first place when we all experience this 100x a day.
I had the chance to see GM Dzindzichashvili analyse games. Making the fiendishly hard to find look like common sense.
I have learned many things. I have learned much about the game in many different areas. My skills have improved and daily I become better at this game I love. I enjoy the knowledge that so many, young and old, appreciate this game to this level and make it fun to play.
I learned that people should resign when they have a bad position, it is courteous to greet an opponent, that bishops are better than knights, e4 is better than d4, and that Kasparov is better than Fischer.
I've "learned" those things here too but I don't agree with any of them. (No opinion on the Kasparov vs Fischer deal though)
There are more arrogant ***holes on this site than any other forum I've frequented.
There are screwballs everywhere on the internet, but honestly this place is mid range at worst. But then again, I have gone through the Wizards of the Coast Forums during the edition wars, and played Original Everquest, so compared to that pretty much anything else is amateur hour when it comes to trolls.

these are a whole new breed of trolls from what you're used to though
dealing fire/acid dmg doesnt work as well here
I learned that Im the worst chess player at this site :) the only 2 games I won were going to be lost if my friend didnt help me
I've only started using the tutorials available yesterday and I have to say they are just pure awesome, this site is great
