"What hinders you from haveing an OTB rating" + "*** If you do not have an official OTB rating (FIDE, USCF, etc) please do not reply or post on this thread ***" = idiot poster.
What hinders you from having an OTB rating?

So, what hinders you?
Chesswise, I live in the middle of nowhere. The closest place to play OTB games is once a year about 900km away and during a time of year that I cannot travel.
Actually, I guess technically I must have an OTB rating because I played in a tournament once.

Hey pawnstogo, why is there no mention of your otb rating on your profile? Are you to be banned from your own threads?

BTW, I just noticed your new profile image 'I don't always post in forums...' Yet, that's all you do.

Now, now peeps. Remember to be nice! Isn't that how you'd like to be treated ?
What? Are you new around here or something?

I'm not being mean or anything, I was just curious. It seems odd that there's no rating listed with a real name to verify it in the uscf or fide lists.
Also, how are those without rating even supposed to post to answer the questions about why they have no rating if they're told to not post because they have no rating? Just seems like it's getting curiouser & curiouser.

I think when someone asks why you don't have a rating and follows it up by saying you cannot respond if you DON'T have a rating, then they deserve a least a little abuse.
But PTG is a special case. So he gets a little extra abuse.

Just seems like it's getting curiouser & curiouser.
I love Alice in Wonderland references.

the obvious one is Money. As a college bound student, one thing I lack is money. With money you can join tournaments and get rating right?
I have 2 national ratings but I don't have FIDE rating because I am simply not good enough to have one. They only award FIDE rating to smart people.

Money == you join USCF, often you have to subscribe to the state organization, then you pay to play in a tournament.
Fortunately there are a few "ratings only" tournaments with only a nominal fee to play.

Funny. At least the disclaimer gets you comments because your threads have no content.
... which is exactly why they're so awesome!

I believe this to be your finest work, pawnstogo. Years from now, this post will (building of course on your already amazingly annoying stellar thread history) have gained you a rep in chess.com's troll hall of fame similar to Dr. Heywood (or was it Haywood? How soon we forget...). Keep up the good work. Big fan of annoying posts here...
There is prestige with having an OTB rating. For those of you who don't have an OTB rating, how does it make you feel? What is hindering you from obtaining one?
