I think she is talking about having to compromise in life. (giving up?)

Well in matters of the heart, never. You hear, never! Smile

As per the original topic: "What if a girl became World Champion?"

GM Susan Polgar is one of my favorites. I buy ALL her DVD's and watch her games in GM tournaments. Women are just as smart as men and at any time we could see that happen.

Cheers,

Don

If they were as ambitious and hardworking as men, they'd get a lot farther. I don't know how you're measurnig intelligence though.

I was lucky enough to see your comment,

I think the girl you mentioned is cute in some of her photos,  depending on her hair style.   Some pictures were very attractive.

I deleted it to make a whole thread on it. Go to the chess players board or click ny profile.

When guys did better in school, it was a 'failure of the schooling system'. Now, schools are designed specifically to accomodate girls, like the female chess titles.

So in other words, girls doing better in school is a 'failure of the schooling system'. Seriously, you do realize that your argument is the same as the one you're criticizing? Namely, that one gender is only doing better because their learning style is being catered to while the other is being left to languish, and the grades resulting from this are not reflective of the students actual abilities.

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe both are true? That in the past boys were accommodated more than girls in some areas, and now in an attempt to even things up we've gone all the way over to the other side and accommodated girls more than boys in some areas? The existence of discrimination for the benefit of one group does not mean that discrimination for the benefit of another group does not exist. The solution here is to find a way to accommodate the differences of both groups as evenly as possible, not to claim that one group does well solely because of natural gifts while another only does well because it's being catered to. The various subjects taught in schools cover a much broader range of skill-sets and interests than any board game, with a much more important overall objective. If a group of children are clearly struggling, it should be looked into. Education is meant to prepare people for life and careers, and individuals failing to do well is not something to be written off. Whether or not a group of individuals do well at some specialized leisure activity is hardly on the same level of importance and scope as how well a group of individuals does at school.

But you're just agreeing with me, in essay form.
