W.C.N
W.C.N, all of the members on chess.com thank you for your clear intolerance towards anyone different from you, but wish that you would express it somewhere else.

The Ring of Trolling....the ring of ultimate power. When worn,it doesn't render one invisible, just asinine.

lol is that what you meant in that resign thread too? Yeah, instead of responding to my points just lable it as trolling. I'm sure that must be a sure sign of a correct opinion, because not just anyone can claim it. Claiming is real difficult!

"What if a tall person became World Chess Champion"
"What if a jew became World Chess Champion"
"What if someone with a birthmark in his thumb became World Chess Champion"
I don't know...then they become World Chess Champion? Not sure what the significance of it is, besides that. People are people. Race, gender, or fingernail width have absolutely nothing to do with chess playing ability and is totally insignificant - except to some 2300-2400 rated WGMs who use their gender as a tool to get attention that they would otherwise not be deserving of.

zezpwn, there is an implication by the OP, and very title of the thread, what it is unclear.Your response, however,is a good one, basically it forces posters to stop implying and start definitively stating what their position is on this burning "non-issue".

I am basically in agreement with zezpwn. I just like to see good chess; the size, gender, whatever, of the person who played a game doesn't determine the beauty of that game.

Tall short matters in physical sports. The brain matters in mental sports. Men and women don't have the same physiology.
Also, only men have been world chess champions.
Therefore biologically and socially the question makes sense.
So I agree with Elubas that good chess is good chess. I disagree with zezpwn that the question is insignificant. (even if at least one likely implication of the question is stupid)

why don't women compete in the same division as men? all I know is I don't like angry feminists
Not all feminists are angry. Not all feminists are even female. The stereotypical angry, man-hating feminists were largely "second wave."
And yes, many of us want to compete with men on a level playing field.
Here, educate yourself: http://civilliberty.about.com/od/gendersexuality/p/third_wave.htm
what I would like to know is why are men and women segrated in the first place? Chess is not a physical game, therefore is women who have comparable ratings to male IMs ,should compete in any and all tournaments.
Women and men are not completely segregated. There are women only and open events, so women are free to take part in any event.
(Chess is not a physical game)
That's true, but statistics indicate that men do perform better. I analysed the distribution of FIDE ELO ratings for men and women and according to the data, every female player would have to gain about 100 ELO points for the distributon of ratings for females and males to be similar.
100 ELO isn't a big deal all in all, but it makes it hard for women to compete at world championship level.
