Depends on how you define "evidence."

TheBigDecline

What if Ivanov is a time traveller???

You can't disprove it, after all ...

superking500

Except the unusually high correlation between his moves and what engines would play. If you ask me for my personal opinion, here's what I think:

Do I think he was cheating? Yes?

Do I believe that actions should be taken against him? No, due to lack of physical evidence. As long as there is no physical evidence (i.e. a device used for cheating) found, then there is no concrete proof that he was cheating, and therefore he cannot be prosecuted.

Magnus plays a lot of engine moves, yet no one suspects him cheating...

maybe ivanov is the real deal

Evidence? Look at the games... Anyone with half a brain knows Ivanov is a cheater.

yeah but doesnt magnus play alot of computer moves as well

Then again the OP has a rating around 500, so he has no idea what he's talking about. In fact, isn't this the guy who posts a new thread every day asking why Aronian is weaker than Carlsen?

Technically you don't "know" that he is a cheater, but I would say pretty much everyone with half a brain thinks he is a cheater.

clunney

Good point Macer. Basically all semi-knowledgable players are fairly sure he's a cheat ;) Better?

macer75

Better. :)

The bigger question is why we feed this Superking5000 troll. And the other big question is whether he's going to ask why Carlsen is stronger than Aronian at some point in this thread! ;)

macer75

Probably not. I haven't seen him mention Aronian in his recent threads. Now he just talks about how great Carlsen is.

why are you a jerk? im asking a question why do people accuse ivanov of cheating without any, not 1 IOTA of evidence

clunney

Chess experts have tremendous circumstantial evidence against Ivanov that more or less proves he's a cheat, including his bizarre behavior and the fact that such a ridiculously high number of moves correspond to Houdini 2. If you choose to ignore that, then it is your choice to remain ignorant.

clunney

In fact, the only thing that experts haven't proven (they've basically proved everything else) is how he cheated. That doesn't change the fact that he did do it.
