well the game cannot be continued, obviously, because wrong moves have been made. i'd just start a new one.
what if you keep on playing when in check.

If during a game it is found that an illegal move, including failing to meet the requirements of the promotion of a pawn or capturing the opponent’s king, has been completed, the position immediately before the irregularity shall be reinstated. If the position immediately before the irregularity cannot be determined the game shall continue from the last identifiable position prior to the irregularity. The clocks shall be adjusted according to Article 6.13. The Articles 4.3 and 4.6 apply to the move replacing the illegal move. The game shall then continue from this re-instated position. |
since it sounds like you can't even do that ( I assume you weren't writing the m oves down) like skwerly says just start again.
Really far in the game you sometimes don't want to strart all over, so the best solution is really to just try and remember. You can record your game moves in chess notation if you know how. Then you can look back at your moves and see what happened. Good luck!
Teaching chess to kids, this happens sometimes. What I do is see if we can go back to the previous move. If we can, I set the pre-check position up and play continues. If I cannot get the student's position set up, the game starts again with the warning that both players need to watch for checks. It happens in casual games. I would say it would be best to simply start again if there is any problem remembering the pre-check position.
I was playing a game of chess with my brother. I got him in check neither of us saw it and we kept on playing. we didn't see it till later. We didn't know how it was set up when I got him in check. what do we do?
