what is a good book for me for my level?

Don't buy the stuff from gotham chess, you might as well donate money to him directly if you don't think he is rich enough.

MCO is more of an encyclopedia than a training manual. If likely will NOT be helpful for one at your level.
for beginners, I have recommended Irving Chernev’s books for decades:
Logical Chess Move by Move
The Most Instructive Games of Chess Ever Played
Practical Chess Endings
Fred Reinfeld’s Complete Chess Course is also a great instructional book.
These are a bit old and are written in English Descriptive rather than algebraic notation. Still, they are among the best teaching books ever written.

At around 400 I might suggest a couple of books like How to Beat Your Dad at Chess and A First Book of Morphy and then after that the Chernev books and maybe Simple Chess. But you have a NM suggesting the Chernev books straight off, so you might be better off following his advice!
A friend also used the Judit Polgar teaches chess series and improved pretty quickly, certainly passed me by. But he was a diligent student to start with. I've never looked at the books, though, so that's second hand info.
Anyway, good luck with whatever you read.
