Well, losing streak means losing in a row like a 5 losing streak is losing 5 matches in one row

You could phrase the question like, "What do you consider to be a long losing streak?" or something like that dude grin.png English is your first language tongue.png . My highest record was 11 games or something like that I think. Lost more than 100 points in one sitting, then immediately shut down my laptop in frustration.

My apologies. I figured “What is considered a long losing streak?” to be sufficient.

In English, is is considered more correct not to use the first person in writing to an audience. “You” is personal.

I guess your apology is sarcasm but I think the previous guy read your title rather than your post. I did the same and commented. The keyword here is probably 'consider' and not 'you'... And you missed it in the title.

I think my longest losing streak was 30+... when I was a beginner back in 2010.

Now the operative word is “long.” My title clearly does not ask, “What is a losing streak?”
What am I missing here?

Maybe you find nothing wrong in it and maybe you and your friends get the gist of your question without any confusion but I will try to portray how a non-native English speaker receives your question in his/her mind, #1. "What is" -> One phrase posing a question and #2. "a long losing streak' -> the subject of the question.  Adding something that clarifies it is simply better.

Any losing streak is too long! But not sure there is an answer to the question at hand- if you play a lot, then losing streaks and winning streaks might happen more often. I honk your rating is what counts to see if you are improving or not.

after u hit 5 games lost in a row that's what i consider a losing streak. U could lose 2-3 close games in a row incidentally, but the 4-5 range is usually when people are tilted.

to answer the natural secondary part of this topic, u should take a break as soon as u feel ur in a losing streak. it'll be so helpful for ur sanity and health.

Back then, my elo rating  was 400. If I were to die, I wouldn't have reached today’s level, would I? I even had the luxury to beat two title players in my life. But, man. That really was brutal. LOL. Actually, those failures kept me even more motivated and hungry for revenge.

Yes, I agree. A few weeks back, I had a 15 game losing streak(I would consider that long!). But that made me determined to get better and I have improved a hundred points since then

Good for you brother happy.png I meant it as a joke. My highest losing streak was 11 and still, I felt like I should abandon chess altogether when it happened.

I know it was a joke. I was half joking too when I said if I were to die. But, felt like it was a good opportunity to share my story with the relevant word play. So, it kinda appeared dark and serious. Anyway, thanks! And I know that feeling, but true addicts always return.
