but many of anands wins is long time ago. He is older.

0-3, even. Carlsen's stats against Anand are often brought up as a good sign for Anand, but the last years Carlsen has been clearly better and won their last decisive games very convincingly, so the question is how much Anand's career plus means at this stage.

Before their match, Fischer was 1-3 lifetime against Spassky.  In fact, almost every World Champion who lost a match went into it with a plus score against the challenger.

I suspected this may be the case, glad you brought it up.

Challengers who win are often young and strong while those who lose are on the decline.  Can't put much stock in their historical meetings.
